If you are looking to recharge your cultural batteries, then a visit to the Municipal Theater of Las Condes (Teatro Municipal de Las Condes) is an option well worth considering. Opened about two years ago, it greatly expanded the cultural offerings in this part of Santiago. As a local theater, it naturally lacks the magnificence of the Municipal Theater of Santiago, but it brings a welcome variety of artistic performances that finds appreciative audiences from all cultural tastes.
As examples, recent performance genres have included award-winning drama, Broadway musical performances, stand-up comedy, classical Chamber music selections, folk singers, solo artists and a tango school from Buenos Aires. The municipality also encourages experimental theater productions and sponsors local and visiting classical music artists under its International Season of Classical Music program. Other noteworthy classical music offerings include performances by the Chamber Orchestra of Chile under the direction of Juan Pablo Izquierdo, who was awarded the 2012 National Prize for Music.
The theater could not be better located. At Apoquindo 3300, it is within walking distance of many good restaurants and bars for pre- or post- theater enjoyment. There is ample underground parking or if you are using public transport, the El Golf metro station is directly outside the entrance. Access to the theater is below ground level at the Civic Center building and the theater has a seating capacity of almost 900. Check out their events calendar here.
